Russian Star, Anatoly Filatov Wins Super Million$ Event

The GGPoker Super Million$ series has continued this past week, and there was a very familiar winner of the most recent event. Russian star Anatoly Filatov was crowned the winner of the event, which makes him the most recent winner of the Super Million$ series.

The win saw him outlast 149 other players to get the success, and ensured that he walked away with a huge cash prize from the event. However, many of the players on the final table also claimed considerable cash prizes.

Filatov Outlasts Competition

Filatov was the player that was able to claim the win by finishing top of the leaderboard, and in doing so, he claimed returns of $325,957 in winnings. The Russian was excellent throughout the event, and was a truly deserving winner. Filatov is a legend of the poker world in his homeland, as he has amassed prize money in the region of $5,171,598 throughout his career. That total sees him sit eighth on the all-time money list of players from Russia. Meanwhile, he is the player in 241st overall position on the all-time money list. He is ranked as the eleventh best player, according to the rankings put together by PokerFives.

Filatov was able to hold on to win despite fierce competition in the final stages by Brazilian player Bruno Volkmann. However, the Brazilian needed to settle for the runner-up spot on the final table, which still meant returns of $254,559. Meanwhile, Filatov’s compatriot Sergei Denisov was back in third place on the leaderboard. The second Russian at the final table picked up prize money of $198,800.

The highest placed European player on the leaderboard was UncleToni from Macedonia, who finished in fourth and won returns of $155,254. The only other Europeans on the final table were Joakim Andersson and Juan Pardo, who finished in seventh and eighth respectively. Canadian players David Peters and Isaac Haxton finished the event in fifth and sixth on the leaderboard. Meanwhile, Elio Fox was the star that finished in ninth, which came after a remarkable achievement last week. Fox walked away with just over $45,000 for his performance in this event.

Former NBA Star Signs Up To WSOP Main Event

It has been revealed that the first player that will be involved in the upcoming World Series of Poker Main Event will be former NBA star Toby Parker. It was announced that he has already put the money forward to play in the event, which currently stands at $10,000. Parker was a proven winner on the court, as he won four NBA Championships during his esteemed career.

All victories came with the San Antonio Spurs, with his final victory coming in 2014. He was also named as the Finals MVP in the 2007 series. He is also a six-time NBA All-Star. Parker’s involvement in the event will certainly add to the star power on show during the World Series of Poker this year.
