Sean Perry Reigns Supreme In PokerGo Cup Over The Weekend

It was hardly the start to the PokerGo Cup that defending champion Daniel Negreanu has been looking for, as the legendary star has failed to pick up a victory in either of the two opening events that have been staged.

However, there will be panic from the defending champion, as he will be well aware that there is still a long way to go in the event this year. Instead, it was a famous success for Sean Perry over the course of the weekend, as he picked up a cash prize of $200,000.

Perry Reigns Supreme

Many stars that win illustrious events throughout the year can point to themselves playing at the top of their game. However, there was more than a layer of fortune that came with Sean Perry’s success over the past weekend. He made an incredibly brave bluff on Nick Petrangelo in the competition, and also went toe-to-toe with Bryn Kenney. However, he lived to tell the tail, and collected returns of $200,000 to pick up the success in the second event of the PokerGo Cup this year.

It has been an excellent 12 months or so for Perry, as he has now collected prize money of just under $5.2 million throughout his career. However, the last year has seen him collect the biggest wins of his career, as he cashed out for six high rolling totals. Only one poker player on the planet has been able to cash out in more high roller events during that time, as Ali Imsirovic has cashed out on an astounding 14 times. But, the recent form Perry has been showing certainly bolds well for his chances throughout the remainder of the PokerGo Cup over the coming weeks.

Remaining Players On Final Table

It was also a good weekend for both Scott Ball and Darren Elias. Despite neither player picking up a victory, both were able to cash out in the two events over the weekend, as they finished on the final table in events number one and two. However, there would likely be concern that neither player were able to get wins in either of the events. Elias was knocked out in fifth place on the final table, as he picked up returns of $64,000. Meanwhile, Ball managed only slightly better, as he was eliminated in fourth for $80,000.

Cary Katz was the closest challenge to Perry down the final stretch, but couldn’t get any closer than second. That meant that the player won returns of $144,000. Kenney was back in third, as he won $96,000. The only other player on the final poker table was Dan Shak, who was the first to be eliminated on the final table over the weekend. Shak was still able to collect returns of $48,000 for his strong showing, which would have acted as a comfort.
