Daniel Negreanu Claims Second PokerGo Cup Success

Daniel Nergreanu certainly seems to have taken a liking to the PokerGo Cup since its inauguration. The legendary star, who is also a brand ambassador of GGPoker, claimed success in the sixth event of this year’s series this week, which adds to the success that he claimed last year to come out as the series champion.

There have been no shortage of stories throughout the event’s history to this point, including Kid Poker winning his first title in eight years 12 months ago, and Sean Perry winning an event in the series this year. However, Negreanu will now be hoping that he is on the right track to defending his title this year.

Negreanu Speaks Of Relief

There was more than a layer of relief that the famous Canadian was able to claim a first success in the event this year. He spoke after his recent win this week, claiming that his ‘frustration’ was bubbling up after the fifth event. However, the victory this week means that he is right back in the hunt for claiming success in the PokerGo Cup this year, something that ranks very high on his ambitions for the 2022 season evidentially.

It was an action packed sixth event of the PokerGo Cup, as a field of 35 entrants were involved in the $25,000 No-Limit Hold’Em. You would never have guessed that Negreanu had some built up frustration going into the event, as he cut a calm and composed figure throughout the most recent event.

However, his big moment finally came in the closing stages, as he was declared the winner following a tense heads-up challenge against Sean Winter. The victory saw the illustrious Canadian claim returns of $350,000, which no doubt sets him up perfectly for a renewed challenge at the title this year.

Final Table Results

Negreanu certainly needed to bring his A-game to come out on top in the event this week, and he will need to maintain that level to maintain his charge towards the PokerGo Cup if he is to successfully defend the honor. Sean Winter was the player that pushed the Canadian the closest, as he finished as the runner-up in the sixth event for a cool $227,500 this past week. Winter will be hoping that he can claim victory in the next event that is staged, and evidence would suggest he could go close again.

Vikenty Shegal just missed out on a place in the top two, as he finished second in the standings. However, the cushion of cashing out at $140,000 likely eased the blow slightly. Stephen Chidwick was one of the other huge names in the competition this week. He managed to make the final table, before coming unstuck and eventually finishing in fourth place overall. He cashed out for $96,250. The final table was rounded off by Brock Wilson, who finished fifth. That finish saw him leave the sixth event of the PokerGo Cup with returns of $61,250.
