Ron West Picks Up Victory on MSPT

It has been an action packed weekend in the United States, and that was evident once again around the poker table, as Mid-Stakes Poker Tour Action took centre stage. The competition reached its conclusion in the early hours of Sunday morning, before the whole country was engrossed by the Super Bowl.

The featured game of the NFL season was eventually won by the Los Angeles Rams, as they managed to overcome the Cincinnati Bengals with a fine comeback effort. There was also an excellent comeback at the poker table on Sunday morning, as Ron West producing a stirring display to come out on top in the Poker Bowl.

West Claims Victory

It was a thoroughly enjoyable evening of play in Las Vegas, as West claimed one of the biggest wins of his career. It was a gruelling close to the competition, as the heads-up challenge between himself and Johnnie Moreno lasted for well over two hours. However, it was to be West’s moment, as he picked up the illustrious Poker Bowl trophy, as well as the $164,488 cash prize. The competition was a high quality affair, with the pendulum swinging in many directions before West was able to claim victory.

There was a big field of players involved in the competition too, as there were over 1,000 entries to complete a sizeable prize fund of just under $1 million. Vlogger Moreno did well to finish second in the event, as he won $124,675. Aaron Massey completed the top three in the overall rankings, as he won returns of $87,213.

Cedrric Trevino was fourth in the overall standings, as he collected returns of $62,436 in prize money. The top nine players in the overall standings finished at the final table, with Go Mori and Haoyu Tang finishing in fifth and sixth, respectively. Brian Sivertsen was in seventh place overall, while the final two places on the final table were made up by Brendan Shiller and Anthony Danna. The latter won returns of $16,154.

Change In COVID Regulations In Vegas

The Poker Bowl wasn’t the only exciting news story surrounding poker in Las Vegas over the weekend, as the COVID-19 restrictions in the state were finally lifted by governor Steve Sisolak. The latest changes mean that players that are now entering poker rooms in Las Vegas will no longer be required to wear face masks. It is the biggest change in the regulations since players were required to wear face masks since July.

It is believed that the announcement was made prior to the weekend, as many establishments around Sin City was worried about losing punters due to the mandate. This past weekend has long been one of the busiest of the year in Vegas, as many arrive in Vegas to watch the Super Bowl and place bets around the area in the huge number of casinos around the much-loved area.
