It is an exciting time to be a poker player or fan in India, as it was revealed earlier this week that there will be a brand new tournament open to players in the country. It was revealed that there will be a World Poker Tour Online India event, which will be powered by the ever-reliable Adda52.com. Furthermore, there isn’t long to wait for Indian poker players as the tournament gets underway in less than two months.

In the announcement, it was revealed that the date of the first tournament will be in November, as it will begin on the 5th, and will run until the 22nd.  Furthermore, there will be over 150 events open for players to get involved in, and there will be a guaranteed $1.8 million in prize money up for grabs.

Biggest Event Of The WPT Online India

The event that all players will have their eyes on will be the Main Event, which gets underway on the 11th November. It was revealed that the buy-in for this event will be INR 11,000, which is around $150. There is also a huge prize fund up for grabs, with players competing for their slice of the INR 25 million.

Also, the winning player of the tournament will be presented with a $5,000 WPT Passport. This will allow the winning player to get involved with any WPT event in the world. As well as this, there will also be a leaderboard during the WPT Online India, and the player that finishes at the top of this will take home INR 1 million. However, only 29 events of the 154 will count towards the rankings on the leaderboard. In total, there will be INR 2.5 million up for grabs from the leaderboard places.

Huge Change For Poker Players In UK

It hasn’t been exciting news around the rest of the world, as it was revealed in the United Kingdom this week that there will be a 10 pm curfew introduced at hospitality venues and bars. This means that casinos around the country will have to close their doors to the public at 10 pm. This new tactic has been brought in to help turn the tide against the coronavirus. Boris Johnson made the announcement in a televised speech on Tuesday, and revealed that his decision was not taken lightly.

The cases in the UK have rose over the last couple of weeks, with the number of cases per day quadrupling from last month. It has been a tough time, as there were hopes that things were beginning to get back to normal and life was resuming. It’s far to say that those involved in the casino industry in the UK were not pleased with Johnson, with the chief executive of the Betting and Gaming Council, Michael Dugher revealing that Johnson may as well have ‘signally the death knee for the casino industry’.
