Phil Hellmuth Beats Daniel Negreanu In High Stakes Duel

Poker fans of all ages have been engrossed by the action taking place in the ‘High Stakes Duel’. The action has been ongoing on and off for a couple of months now, as Daniel Negreanu has clashed with Phil Hellmuth.

There was more exciting action this past weekend, as they met for the third time in less than a year. The series had already been exciting, but it was raised to another level this past weekend.

Hellmuth Seals Comeback Win

The series has been one of the most exciting for poker fans, and they have been able to watch every second of the contest as it has been televised in the United States. The first match-up went the way of Phil Hellmuth, before Negreanu exercised his right for a rematch with the star. His chance for revenge came just a month later, as they played for double stakes. Each player was required to buy-in to the event with a $100,000. However, not many fans expected the second round of the series to be as exciting as the first. Negreanu was forced to regret missed opportunities in the second game, as he squandered a healthy lead to lose the game.

However, he vowed that he would get revenge in a third meeting between the stars. Time will tell whether he can keep that promise, as he was beaten by Hellmuth for a second time this past weekend. The game followed a very similar pattern to the previous encounter, as Hellmuth came back from a less than promising position to claim the victory. The comeback stunned Negreanu, as the big turning point saw Hellmuth win an important hand with a bluff.

Negreanu wasted little time in laying down a third challenge, as he admitted at the end of the game that they will need to do a round three. The meeting will come a year after Negreanu clashed with Doug Polk. Hellmuth came into this contest off the back of a dominant display against Antonio Esfandiari, as he beat the poker star 3-0. A date on a third meeting will be announced in due course, but we will keep you up to date on the latest news.

Casinos To Resume At Full Capacity

It was also revealed over the weekend that casinos in New Jersey and Pennsylvania will be able to operate at full capacity once again later in the month. The news would be welcomed by all fans in the states, as May 31st will signal the return to normal life as we know it. Casinos in the two states had been forced to close for a couple of months in December due to the COVID pandemic.

Since April, the casinos in the mentioned states have been operating with 75% capacity, but that will be upgraded to 100% capacity in just a couple of weeks. New Jersey will be back to normal on May 19th, while Pennsylvania casinos will be back to normal on the last day in May.
