The biggest event of the year for PokerStars is less than a month away now, and one player that is almost guaranteed to be involved is Gabriel Tavares. The Brazilian was celebrating this past weekend as he won the PokerStars Sunday Millions Final, and claimed winnings over just over $110,000.
The countdown to the 14th Anniversary Edition of the Sunday Millions is less than three weeks away now, and Tavares will be considered a front-runner for success in that competition after this showing. Tavares took home $110,883 after winning the competition on 1st March.
Tavares Sees Off Competition
The event on Sunday saw a fierce competition, with over 10,804 players involved. There was over $1 million up for grabs in the competition, as 7,579 entrants and 3,225 re-entries played in the competition. That meant that the players that finished in the top 1,934 places were guaranteed returns.
Other players to finish in the top nine included Stuart Guite and Pallimall who won $8,529 and $11,753 respectively. There were four South American players in the top four, with Argentinean Adso139 coming in seventh place taking home $16,195. Brazilain Fabricio Giacobbo was next on the list as he pocketed just over $22,000.
Storehyller and LEV.DG1990 were next in the rankings, before Brazilian Guilherme Franco was placed in third. He was rewarded with $58,391, while second-placed Serg.82g won $80,462. The Russian was the player that was closest to Tavares, but the winner never looked in doubt. Plyman416 would have been the unluckiest player involved as he missed out on any returns after finishing in 1,935th place.
$12.5 Million Event Now In Focus
The countdown to the Sunday Million on the 22nd March is now underway, with $12.5 million guaranteed to be on offer. PokerStars are hoping for 62,500 entries to make up the money, with $215 the price for entry. There are already 5,000 announced for the competition, as they have either won their place in the competition.
There are multiple ways to get involved in the competition with Daily Mega Sats handing out 100 seats. These only cost $11 for entry, and take place between now and the 20th March. There are also places up for grabs through the Spin & Go Tournaments. These $4 competitions could prove incredibly lucrative with a potential $1 million up for grabs, while the runners-up in the event will take home a guaranteed $100,000.
