Chance Kornuth Wins Galfond Challenge Event

It was another weekend of poker action across the world, with Chance Kurnuth winning one of the biggest events that took place. It wasn’t the best of starts to the Galfond Challenge for Kurnuth, but he managed to showcase some of his best poker during the challenge over the weekend, as he claimed an impressive win on Saturday.

He still has some way to go to catch Galfond, as he trails the legendary player by over $200,000, but the win on Saturday means that he is not about to give up on chasing down Galfond. The win on Saturday saw him claim $78,000 in returns, and it means that the issues that Kornuth had with WSOP.com are now a thing of the past.

Kornuth’s Eventful Week

The success came less than seven days after Kurnuth experienced some issues when trying to deposit funds into his account to continue playing. He was having issues trying to deposit funds when trying to top up his account ahead of the high-pot Omaha contest. However, these issues were quickly addressed and after a slight delay, the action was able to resume once again with no further issues hanging over any of the players. The success over the weekend ensures that the contest between Kornuth and Galfond is not yet over, as the two players are competing over 35,000 hands.

This is already the third time in a couple of years that Galfond has been involved in this kind of competition, as he has previously taken on online players ActionFreak and VenVidi1993. However, this competition against Kornuth seemingly looked to be over going into the weekend action as Galfond had won six of the nine opening sessions.

It could have been considered must win for Kornuth on Saturday, and he lived up to that pressure to get the win. There is still some way to go in the series, as 7,500 hands have been played, which means that there are still 27,500 to go. The next contest between the two players will get underway on Tuesday afternoon and the action will be available to watch as WSOP.com.

Casinos To Be Hit Hard In United Kingdom

It was revealed over the weekend that there will be a number of lockdown restrictions brought back in throughout the United Kingdom. The biggest changes will likely impact the north of the country, with bars and restaurants expected to close down once again.

The new colour coded traffic light plan will also have a huge impact on the casino industry, as casinos in the worst-hit areas will be forced to close their doors once again. Among the areas that will be worst hit by the new changes will be Liverpool and Manchester. As well as casinos, bookmakers will also have to close their doors for at least the next couple of weeks. It is expected that Boris Johnson will make the official announcements regarding the changes during a television address on Monday night.
