Alex Yen Comes Out On Top In WPT Lucky Hearts Poker Open

There was a massive victory in the world of poker for Alex Yen earlier this week, as he cashed out for a massive $975,240 at the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel and Casino. It was a massive victory for the poker star, and came in the World Poker Tour Lucky Hearts Poker Open.

Yen claimed a dominant advantage and was able to keep his nerve despite coming under massive pressure from some of the biggest names in the field. Ultimately, they couldn’t get close to the star, as he picked up the biggest win of his poker career this week.

First Live Major Tournament Win

It will likely be a day that stays with Alex Yen throughout the rest of his career, as it signalled the first major tournament win of his career to this point. Not only that, but it was also by far the biggest return that he had picked up at the poker table during his young career. However, a return of over $975,000 would likely rank high for many of the poker players out there when it comes to the biggest wins of their career. But, the victory was able to more than double the prize money that he had won during his career to this point. Before the tournament, Yen had won just under $400,000 in total career earnings.

It was no easy feat to get the victory in the event either, as there were nearly 2,000 entrants involved in the competition. It is the 20th time that the WPT season has been staged, and by the time that the action on Wednesday got underway, there were just six players remaining in the competition. However, Yen ensured that it would be him that would be standing tall at the end of the competition, as he remained cool under intense pressure to pick up a very deserved victory.

Final Table Standings

There were some significant winners on the final table in the event, with huge purses taken home by all six players that made it to the session on Wednesday. Yen’s win of $975,000 was by far the biggest score in the competition, but the remaining five players also took home comfortable earnings from a gripping event. Anton Wigg pushed Yen the closest in the event, as he finished second in the overall standings. Still, he won $650,180 in prize money from the event.

Daniel Lazrus was next on the leaderboard, as he finished in third place overall in the standings. He collected returns of $482,380. Nicholas Verderamo and Joshua Kay were the next two players in the rankings, with the players winning respective totals of $361,130 and $272,830. The final player to reach the final table was Omar Lakhdari, as he finished sixth overall for $208,025.
