Big Surprises at WSOP Horseshoe Hammond

The World Series of Poker (WSOP) is always an exciting event, but its recent leg in Horseshoe Hammond has been a bit outrageous. It is about to come to an end over the weekend, and there have been some incredible first-time situations that have occurred.

Chris Fuchs Hits First Recorded Cash Win at WSOP

The World Series of Poker circuits are populated by experienced players who have been practicing for years. Normally, the players who win events have a few other cashes under their belts, and have some recorded wins up on Hendon Mob – but the winner of the WSOP Circuit Horseshoe Hammond Opening Event has neither of these.

After taking down the competition, Chris Fuchs has earned a top prize of over $124 000 – all without having any previous recorded wins. He is known to be a recreational player but, before this win, he didn’t even have a Hendon Mob page. Happy with his win, he attributes it mostly to luck, saying “I got a lot of good hands, I got the cards and ran well.”

Roommates Win Events on the Same Day

Another interesting situation came on October 16^th. Mo Nuwwarah and Josh Reichard won events on the same day. While that doesn’t sound like the most thrilling thing to happen at the WSOP – the exciting part comes when you find out that they are actually roommates.

Nuwwarah took down the $600 HORSE event on Tuesday – which also happened to be his birthday. The win made for a great present, as he walked away with a $14,008 top prize. He was heads up for nearly three hours and at one point he only had five bets left. However, he managed to pull through and earn the huge windfall.

Little did he know that at the same time, his roommate Reichard was winning the $400 NLHE Monster Stack event. The prize pool was worth over $180 000, and it was split between the finalists – with Reichard earning $38 392. The win has earned him his tenth WSOPC ring.

It’s fantastic that these two players have managed to cash in on significant wins on this leg of the WSOP Circuit. Surely, they play together at home in their shared apartment, so it’s likely that their winning techniques have rubbed off on each other.

The Horseshoe Hammond leg of the WSOP circuit will run through the course of the weekend – and who knows what other unusual events will take place? We are sure to see even more exciting poker action. Plenty of first-times have occurred here already and we might see even more uncommon occurrences over the weekend.
