Francisco Benitez wins €10,200 Mystery Bounty (€114,080)

Francisco Benitez of Uruguay has gotten the 2022 PokerStars and Barcelona-Casino European Poker Tour Barcelona off to a roaring start. He won the €10,200 Mystery Bounty and collected €114,080 in prize money. After a short heads-up duel, Benitez was victorious over Igor Yaroshevskyy of Ukraine. He took home €73,610 as the tournament’s runner-up.

One of the first events of the resumption of the EPT Barcelona, one of the best online poker sites, after a sabbatical of three years, the mystery reward event attracted 91 runners. It generated a prize pool of €882,700. Around half of each buy-in goes into the bounty pool. This event was one of the initial events.

Gabriel Moura of Brazil finished in ninth place, earning €13,250. While Bruno Volkmann of Germany finished in fifth place, earning €32,340 in the third event of the Spanish series. Joris Ruijs finished in fourth place with a payout of €40,440, and Anton Suarez finished in third place with a payout of €52,560.

In an interview given to winners after competitions, Benitez claimed that he ran “extremely good” over the course of the two-day competition and “won a lot of large hands and flips.”

“I feel quite wonderful, “he remarked. “It was a good beginning, and it gives me more confidence for the other competitions that are still to come.

Benitez’s tournament run resulted in a six-figure score even before he won the first-place prize of €114,080. The South American had already locked up a six-figure score by winning 13 of 39 bounties. They included the second single-biggest bounty of €50,000. Benitez’s run was a nice cherry on top of his tournament performance.

Benitez also won a total of €110,000 in bounties, each worth €5,000, bringing his total bounty score to roughly the same level as his first-place award. In the meantime, the elusive €100,000 bounty was awarded to Ruijs, who finished in fourth place.

According to The Hendon Mob, Benitez picks up his largest-ever live cash with the victory. He surpassed a score of $107,754 that he earned in June from a runner-up finish in the Brazilian Series of Poker (BSOP) Main Event. Benitez’s finish in June earned him the money for finishing second in the BSOP Main Event.

When Benitez finished in second place in the 2021 WSOP Online $10,000 No Limit Hold’em – Super MILLION$ High Roller event, he took home more than seven times that amount in winnings. He was defeated by Erik Seidel, a player who has been inducted into the Poker Hall of Fame. Seidel made it to Day 2 of this week’s Mystery Bounty tournament, but he was eliminated in the first hand of the day.
